Sept 8-12 Introductions to Forensic Science
Objectives: Identify the steps to be taken for recording evidence at a crime scene Recognize the limitations of eyewitness accounts. Compare and contrast the differences between indirect and direct evidence.
1. Discuss Capital Word of Day: vivacious, lax, en masse, cascade, and ally
2. Discuss Science Word of Day: testimonial evidence, physical evidence, circumstantial evidence, class evidence, individual evidence, probative value
3. Discussion Question: Posted on Website Forensic scientists follow sequential protocol to collect, preserve and analysis the evidence at a crime scene. “What are some of the steps that we follow?” If you did not post on the website then retrieve you log sheet and fill it in with the information it request

Sept 5 Experimental Research: complete “Observation Lab”
Objectives: You will be able to understand the main process of science, which is to understand the scientific process. You will be able to identify the three types of variables; you will understand the difference between descriptive and experimental process. With the understanding you will be able to build upon your understand regarding the foundation of science
1. Discuss Capital Word of Day: Karma
2. Discuss Science Word of Day: Experimental Research
3. Discussion Question: Posted on Website “What are the required components for a research to be classified as ‘Descriptive’ or ‘Investigative’? If you did not post on the website then retrieve you log sheet and fill it in with the information it request
4. Complete PowerPoint ‘Nature of Science’ specifically how we record data and the required items need to properly construct a graph from data tables
5. Turn in signed documents (LAST DAY!)
6. Introduction to next PowerPoint ‘Variables”
7. Prep for Football Game (Lets Support Our Team!
Starting new week we will move into labs on how to recall the metric system, filling graduated cylinder and proper useage of scales with an emphasis on the differences between weight and mass.

1. You have continued to show that you are very interested in working outside of the box. I understand that some of technology may be new in your learning experience but I guarantee it will assist you in the years to come.
2. Thursday you will conduct an experiment on “observation techniques” you will determine just how much you as the investigator can observe and to place into writing. You will provide you written observation to your partner and your partner will have to be able to come to the conclusions of what you were discribing. You will then change jobs and repeat the process.
3. your assignment is to prepare a lab report and brief abstract based off of the finding that you and your group discovered during this dicovery. Remimber you are working on a Descriptive Research.
4. Discussion Question: ” What are the requirement need to determine that you are developing a Investigative Research’ (hint it is on the PowerPoint) This is worth 5 points on the bonus you will receive another 10 points if you read another person’s comments and respond to what they wrote.

1. For the remainder of this week your discussion question is: ” explain the difference between “Dependent Variable; Independent Variable and Control Variable as they relate to perform an experiment.” (10 bonus points for each description of the types of ‘variables’ ) HINT: use your PowerPoint to find the answer. Be able to discuss these variables in class.
2. Those of you that are keeping a electronic notebook I will walk you through it Sept 3 or you can give it to me with your name and class period and I will do it for you.
3. Sept 3 Wed we will be discussing ” Introduction to the Natural Science” we will make sure that we all understand the ’scientific method before moving on to labs
4. You should download and/or safe to your disk “How to Write a Lab Report”
5. SSR day during 1st period bring something to read please or I will pass out something for you

1. Sept 2. you will be administered a test. Take your time. This is the first time you have been evaluated by me and you may be nervous. Read ALL the instructions carefully, do not rush.
2. After the test we will sign for your textbook; turn in required school documents and class documents
3. Get us to checking this site daily, I will post a weekly discussion question and each time you post will count for 10 points (so 10 responses to the discussion would equal 100 points by the end of the week) however, only good thoughtful responses will be afforded a point range between 1 to 10.
4. I will be checking materials; assisting in setting up notebooks and/or thumb-drives
5. frequently I will post very easy bonus items on this site and if you discover them you will receive the points issued in the message. The will count as extra credit points.
6. We will have a great time if you open your minds and put you defenses down. You will find that you are bright and able to complete the task at hand. remember this motto: “a teacher can open the door but you must want to walk in” (if you understand my motto briefly tell me what it means and write it on the back of your test paper for 50 bonus points) Don’t tell anyone

We are now at the point that if you are still in this class you have chose to buckle down and work hard for a possible career in Forensic Science. After today you will begin to see weekly discussion points to comment on. You will also be direct to particular ‘Units’ in the ‘lesson section’ to review/prepare for class.
You will also need to review you Edline account. I will (even though it is more work) try to mirror both this webpage and your Edline page.

This will help you understand the process of death, in general, there are many other aspects such as weather, time of year, clothing, body size and so on they may change some of the variants. Today we are able to match up individuals teeth impression during a crime, mainly during sex crimes in which the suspect may bite the victim. We can not take impressions from suspects and match them to the victims injury.
Another importance for teeth impressions it to collect impressions from cadavers and/or skeletons that have been decomposing for some time. We can obtain impressions and with the assistance of dental databases we can hopefully identify missing persons:
